Your Bio

I'm Dave T and I reside in Woodland Park, Colorado, in the shadow (well, on the north side) of Pikes Peak. I am mostly retired and enjoy motorcycle riding/travels (2002 Honda Gold Wing, 2006 Yamaha FJR1300), hanging with my friends, photography, and generally anything outdoors in the western US that includes any of the above. I hope you enjoy my photos as I add more of them to this site.

AmLeg Colorado Boys State -- 2009 : I was a City (Tucker) Counselor this year -- 16 fine young men in my city (Luke, Dylan, Ben, JP, Mark, Cody, Jon, Geoff, Randy, Alex O, Shaun, Jack, Daniel, Bryce, Kevin, and Alex W. They sure did make me proud!!! Hopefully I had as much of a positive impact on their lives as they had on mine. Quite the week. Colorado Boys State is held at Colorado State University--Pueblo and I was the head counselor for the City of Tucker (named after a Colorado MIA from the Vietnam War; all cities were named after MIAs). I had 16 boys who were just amazing in almost every way. Of course, they apply and compete to attend, so we get some pretty sharp young men (they are surely not kids). Lots of various talents and intelligence levels, but I was amazed as how my group came together as a team and in support of each other. For those who do not know about Boys State (I was lucky to attend West Virginia Mountaineer Boys State back in 1965), it is a citizenship-building exercise sponsored in 49 states by the American Legion. The boys in each state actually create a 51st state, electing city, county, and state governments, concluding on the last 1-1/2 days with a legislative session on bills that they wrote earlier in the week. Long days and lots of good activities -- I got about 4-5 hours of sleep each night after concluding our last city meeting around 11:30PM (run by our elected Mayor). The top elected positions are the Governor, LtGovernor, and two US Senators. The two US Senators will attend Boys Nation in Washington, DC in July along with the Senators from the other Boys States across the nation. My guys were amazing, with the LtCovernor (Bryce) and one of the US Senators (JP) coming from my city, plus my boys won the basketball tournament and one of them (Mark--guitar player/singer) got a standing-ovation at the talent show.

Ten Years of Riding -- 1999-2009 : Ten Years of Riding -- About 160,000 Miles -- Life is Good!!!! I came back to motorcycle riding in April 1999 after a hiatus of about 17 years; I stopped riding after a pretty big accident back in my earlier years. It is great living in the mountains of Colorado since I can often just head west on the roads with less traffic. So, I've been back into riding for almost 10 years now, and a great 10 years it has been on the following bikes: 99 Honda Valkyrie -- Spring 99 to Spring 06; ~50k miles 02 Honda Gold Wing -- Spring 02 to Present; ~104k miles 06 Yamaha FJR1300 -- Spring 06 to Present; ~10k miles Plus a few rides on rentals (Gold Wings--California in Fall 01 and Las Vegas/Death Valley in Spring 05; Harleys in Hawaii) and on my old friend Mark's ST1300 back in WV in Fall 07. Lots of great riding to some great places in the United States and Canada; however, the rides were made even better by being able to make them with some great friends from the Colorado High Country Cruisers (HCC) and the GL1800 forum sponsored by HondaDirectLine. And, I must truly thank my riding buddy John/Smoky -- we have made so many great trips together (undoubtedly more than 125k miles). They have been really good times and may there be many more! So, lean back, relax, and enjoy the slideshow -- it has been a great 10 years and 160,000+ miles.
